I am headed out the door right now, I have to drive from East Bethel to Otsego to pick up some demo baits, then up 169 and with the wind going to put in at Eddy’s. If anyone is interested call 612-247-9398, I will be on the road but if you want to meet me anywhere along the way, or even at the access I’m game. BTW Bob declined, babbling something about work, family, and the wife… blah blah blah priorities PFFFFFFFT!

I plan on fishing until after dark, and might even break out a stick bait or two later in the evening. Musky activity will dictate.

Wind out of the east at 20 to 25 when I got up there. Needless to say I had Vineland to myself. I spent 5 hours working the southwest corner of Vineland Hole. One pike to show for it. Not a week ago Bob saw 7 in the same area. Water was seriously churned up, weeds on the surface everywhere. Clarity was down to maybe 1.5′. Bucky12pt jumped in the boat right before dark, we managed nothing, at least nothing we could actually see. The low clouds rolled in just before dark and I decided to call it. Two things made the white caps bearable, #1 a driftsock, without it I would have drifted over every cast I made. #2 the Power Loon, rock and roll on a friday afternoon alone in Vineland is oddly bearable, with RamJam BlackBetty cranking through the speaks.

I will be up a few times this week. Hope for better wind, and an actual fish report. Later…

    Dan:

If I had known, I would have invited ya over to fish with Tom Ore and myself. Tom shared your boat sometime this summer with Jensen. We saw some small northern, caught some small northern, then saw the tail of a small musky (maybe) and I finally took a swing and a miss at something that felt pretty good. I was trying to get second set in, when as Tom put it, I shot a volley over the bow (lure came a sailing). Water temps at 62, actually going up and fish still pretty shallow.

Not quite by yourself. We saw you come out of Eddy’s. We were trolling for northerns in Vineland Bay, three guys in a Yarcraft. We did not fair much better. We ended up with 2 fish, a 31 and 34. We did better on Thursday when the sun was out and the lake was glass. We ended up with 5 on Thursday with the biggest being 35. We also seen a lot of big muskies sunning themselves on area reefs, no takers though. A few of the fish that we saw were in that 50″ caliber. I have to agree with you Dan about the rollers on Friday. I was caught a couple times with a few gallons in my lap. You have to love good rain gear! I have to say a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

I guess I did forget about you guys. Probably due to the fact that you almost disappeared between waves. Good you guys got out, thanks for the report.
