Gotta tell ya……… got caught “asleep at the wheel” today! Seeing identical conditions to last year, I figured it was safe to begin dragging an extra line in free spool and I wasn’t but 30 minutes into this effort when I heard my rod bounce in the holder. I wasn’t in free spool!!! Don’t know how I did it but the fish wasn’t leaving so I went into “come and get it mode” and when the muskie lifted it’s head right out of the water and headed the direction of the “Real Fish”, I thought the game would be on but nope……….. it dove underneath, never to be seen again. Why? Cuz I forgot to yell at it like Steve Cady told me to! 
Anyway, I did get another chance at another fish…… took a Giant Witch but it dropped it before I could get the hooks set.
Had one shorty try for the Turbo Frog…….. came right out of the water lunging at it! Funny to watch but I couldn’t get a second attempt within 10 minutes, moved on.
Only one more follow, again on the frog, before I decided to get out of the soaking skies. It was a full minute dual, boatside, trying to get it to go but it only stared, and changed position……… stared some more, follow the lure, circle around….. finally left the area, again making me wonder what I’m missing when I get fish boatside. I’ve grown confident in finding them……. just not closing the deal.
Only 6 weeks, approximately, before ice-in so I’m hoping I can get this turned around and get some more pics for the photo album.
