I was just up there in June. Had good luck with numbers but not size. Stayed on the northeast corner. Where are you going to be? We had great luck on the X-Raps #10 and 12. Smallies on tubes and grubs, some on husky jerks and the x-raps. Average size smallies were 3 1/2 lbs. We had one over 5# and three right at it. A lot of muskies seen, but it was the week before opener. Colors that are good for muskie are the ORANGE with white or black. Let me know where you are staying and I’ll try to give you some better details.

I would recomend draging your own boat up there. The resort boats aren’t bad but you’d be more comfortable. I was up there last year stayed at eagle lake lodge. It was alot of fun and they were extremely accomodating I’ll be headed back up next summer. I had to leave in a hurry due to a medical emergency I was chasing muskies while I was up there. I saw 6 fish between 38-45″ and the other group of guys up there caught a huge 52″ fish and several in the mid 40’s What will you be chasing cause I can offer more advice if I know what you’re looking for.

When I went up there the guy that owns the lodge at which we stayed said,” Small buck tails like vibrax or Mepps. I had the best luck on Black/silver. We had some lookers on the bulldogs in white or black/orange, but generally everything in the box got washed. It’s a tough nut to crack though lots of rock reefs and in the area I was fishing not alot of weeds. If you can find out where you’re gonna stay I’d call them and ask what the hot ticket is, cause they want you to catch fish so they’ll be more than willing to give you the 411. All in all it was a blast though and I look forward to doing it again next August. Please send me a PM when you get back to let me know how it went for you guys.
