whoa that thing is sweet looks like a cross between a muskie and a pike, only it got more pike genes than muskie..looks really cool.

It does resemble a chain pickerel in a sense.. but I highly doubt thats what it is.. Thats fish would be a trophy class pickerel. The pattern on that fish is just as far off for a chain pickerel as it is for a northern. Its very common to get young northerns with similar markings, but I dont think I have ever seen one of that size with the unusual markings.

    Very cool looking fish regardless!

Cool looking fish. Looks like it was taken on light tackle too.

Had the aroma of a musky, they seem to smell a little different than the pike do. Was 2-3# caught on a crankbait.

This is a mature chain pickerel.. they dont commonly get a whole lot larger.

Similar pattern characteristics, but the origional post is not a cain pickerel.

Where was the fish caught? I’ve seen some similar pike on certain waters in the boundary waters but not locally.

Polk county WI. Caught a muskie that night and quite a few this year on the same lake. All of theme have been just your average olive green. Have not caught any tigers out there that I can recall.
