80lb Power Pro in Moss. If you don’t have a spool pin back it with 20lb mono, splice with an improved blood knot. Fill the spool under heavy tension, and to avoid headaches first time out troll the entire thing almost to the splice with nothing tied on the end, reel it up with your rod tip underwater and your line will be conditioned and ready to go.

Same as Dan, I started out using 80lb Power Pro moss and have been using it ever since. No break-offs etc. I like so far.

Dan’s got the right Idea, I use 65 lb powerpro and I actually had a fish break me off last year and I lost my leader and bucktail but on the next pass I boated a 43″er, what a day I think I’m going to upgrading to the 80 though so these sort of things won’t happen again.

I have Cortland masterbraid on all three of my reels and it really is nice. I used to love the green spectron, but cannot find it in a good bulk price any longer.
