I was out there on Sunday. I think the lake is O.k. I didnt boat any fish. The water clarity was only 1 ft. Water was green and you cant see your bait coming to the boat. Make sure to figure 8 on every cast. I didnt see any fish, but couldnt really see anyways due to the water clarity. I didnt fish East, only hit West. Good Luck, let me know how you do. All the islands looked like good spots for muskies.

I’d key in on the weedy (cabbage) flats seems like they are in the same spots year after year. Most people get them while pan fishing. Last year the neighbor boy brought in a 48″er and a couple weeks ago the people at Rushmore “netted” a dying 48″er. 2 weeks ago Big Kenny had a BIG one up to the boat twice and it finally broke his line while panny fishing. I haven’t boated one yet but have seen plenty of them and lost them while bass fishing. All on West Rush since I don’t spend much time on East yet. I saw pics of a 54″er on the wall at CJ’s but don’t know the validity of the story behind it???

Are you heading out for a league night?

    Good luck,

    Ferny

Thats how i roll. Why sleep? Wasting good musky time. I am fishing this Thurs starting at 8pm i will fish till Sunday night at 1am. Only with a few naps here and there. Night fishing has been terrible. I have tried everything at night casting in 2 fow to trolling 80 fow (nothing). Last weekend i went nutz (i cant believe Mille Lacs, just dead, i tried everything I know) I even trolled the flats (man is that boring). Thats desperate when you start trolling the flats out there. I had one follow in that whole time fishing. Thats almost impossible to do??? Something is up!! If these fish dont start going soon, its going to cause me to really start second guessing. Is it the water level? Was it a super late spawn? With the tullibee kill off last year are they looking to different feeding areas? Muskie morality w/ all the added new pressure? Give me your thoughts.

Any more reports on east or west Rush? I am going there in the morning 7/4 and taking my dad and brother out. I will work my usual spots, but if something is hot lets hear it…

    Thanks,

Well, we were there (Rush) from 6am to noon on 7/4 and no pike or muskies. Switched to bass rigs and caught only one and had another strike but no hook. One was in East Rush and the other in West Rush. The bite is definately slow on Rush right now…

I know its been a few weeks, but i forgot to ask. How was the water clarity when you were there? I am assuming it was fairly poor and low visibility. I was there a few weeks before you and it was bad.

The water quality was pretty bad. Looked to be full of alge bloom. I have seen it worse, and I’m sure it will get worse as the summer goes on.
