I’ve caught numerous pike (32-40 inches) lately out in the open basin of Mille Lacs while pulling cranks for walleyes. I usually catch about 6 per year out there but this year has really been unusual and I’m now getting 1-2 a day. My wife also caught this thick 44 inch musky. Mornings are best and anything that is bright in color. I think a guy could really put a pattern together out there and now is the time! Feel free to PM me for more info.

just wondering how deeap of water are you trolling, how deep are your cranks running, and some peoples ideas of “open water” is different….mine, up there is a half mile from from shallow water (significant depth change)… whats yours?

and i dont expect you to give up all your secrets, just wondering

I’m trolling in 31-35 feet of water and my crankbaits are running 4-8 feet off the bottom depending on the time of day and where I’m marking arcs on my sonar. I’m not fishing any type of structure or flats and I’m not close to any shallow water.
