I would post this in the turtle flambeau forum. I fish it alot but not for skis. Not a high density body of water but there are some real nice fish in there. I believe it is a Class A body of water for muskie. Mark Benson or Scott from flambeau vista could help
I can’t be of a lot of help as I primarily fish it for walleyes as well. But tell me a little bit more about what you are planning in terms of where you are staying, planning to fish etc.???
Right now a very shallow bite is going on… Weeds are filling in nicely as well. Any of your typical baits will work, though it is a very dark colored water, so fire tigers and other bright colors are going to be better now.
Also the late Phil Grasser used to guide and build safety pin spinner baits called Boonie baits. He fished them all the time in the Murray’s arm and caught virtually everything on them. For the most part they are a willow leaf spinner bait.
Give me some more info and I can try to help you out… Maybe even try to get up and explore with ya…

Thanks for the info… We are staying in Boulder Junction.
Putting the boat in at springstead landing. We will be fishing all day on Saturday. The only thing that I found was, if you can find weeds and the river channel is a good place to start.
Musky Guide Bobby Orr posts some good reports and tips for fishing skis on the TFF on his website. There are some monsters in the TFF confirmed by DNR netting and shocking surveys. Send me a pm if you need more info.
It has been awhile since I muskie fished the TFF, but I have a number of great memories…
That being said, first things first, go slow as you move around unless your very confident in your driving or map chip. Depending on the level of the flowage some things you do not want to hit might or might not show for you right below the surface.
I know the first and last place I always fished was to turn right as you get out of the Springstead launch channel and head into the bay. I would work your way all the way around.
Bucktails and top waters were the ticket for me.
If you have a map, shoot me a PM and I can perhaps help with some more details for you.
Just make sure you don’t hit the rock bar right away out of the channel as well. For the most part the water levels on the TFF right now are about as high as you will see… While in that area, you could probably bounce from island to island to island on the west side of the Baraboo basin and that would get you closer to one of the channels as well …

Paulski, and everyone else, Thanks for all the help. I will post pictures. This the best site that I have ever been apart of. I will be sure to return the favor.
