cold front muskie bite

I have been out here and there chasing around sluggish fish with little to no success. I even busted into the crank baits and rubber but it still hasn’t changed their mood.

I would assume that this cooling trend will soon after trigger a HOT bite so I will report back once these muskies have an attitude adjustment.

Feel free to share if you are having the same or better luck… I’m back on the water tonight so we are hoping to light the net up

Yeah…I hit WBL on thursday night after work, as the clouds rolled in and the rain came, hoping the change in weather would turn ’em on. I had just enough time to thoroughly cover the north side of Ordways Bar…nothing. There was a lot of feeding activity with smaller fish though. There were 5 or 6 other guys out there with the same idea I had, I didn’t see any indications that they were successful. Like you, I’m really hoping the fall weather comes soon.

Try any suicks? Hardcore buddy swears by them in cold fronts.

I usually look at cold fronts as a good thing this time of year. This time of year it’s all about bucktails for my boat. Got 2 this morning on bucktails… It might be a little different up there though AJ

I got out most of yesterday and today….Man it’s hard to believe that the leaves are changing colors and falling up here in the northwoods! The big fish are on the move and it’s only time until they make it into my net.

Had 3 over 50inchers follow hard into the boat and go a few turns into the figure8. Their mood was telling me maybe tomorrow??

I was also out last weekend on Vermilion. I had 2 fish going on Friday night including a 50+- that made one turn on the 8 and followed hard all the way back to the boat on a return with a walk the dog bait. The other blew up on the walk the dog earlier in the night.
After Friday they seemed to disapear from the water I was fishing.
I also had a good talk with a local up there and there were lots of dead muskies including a giant over the season. 15 fish plus that we were aware of just on the West side of the lake. High water temps and heavy pressure are taking a toll on the lake.
Were there a lot of dead muskies on the other parts of the lake? Niles bay,Wakemup Narrows, Niles and parts East.
How about the tulibee die off? The Head o Lakes bay had a huge die off- was there a die off in any of the other areas?

AJ- I sent you a PM. Give me a call sometime

Good Luck to all this fall

I was told last week that there was a tullibee die off on Mille Lacs this summer.
