Only a little northern and a nice tan. We didn’t even see anything.

During the Classic I saw a 50+ follow one of my DT’s to the boat. Scared the urine out of me.

I had one blow up on my top water when i was holding on after getting hit by a full tree floating down river. Found out big smallies like baits to. I spent the rest of the day fishing out paddlers and there camping gear. St croix kettle and snake need to drop before im out there again.

Saw 5 very lazy muskies, which you could tell were in a very neutral mode, not aggressive at all. Could have used some clouds and wind Sunday morning…

Was out on wed putting the new boat through it’s paces, but no muskie action. Still getting use to the Maxxum I must say I liked the Terrova w/i-pilot alot better

Back to Back weeks with big cold fronts! man that can make things tough… factor in spraying Bald Eagle for weeds last week too and you’ve got some tough conditions… Still managed some fish this week…. Still not fooling the big fish. Plenty of mid thirties to go around though….

We boated a 52 that Sunday on the second cast, it was the only fish we saw other than a Perch follow on Saturday. Unfortunately at some point in its life it had been harpooned by a poacher just ahead of the dorsal so the rear of the fish was underdeveloped with a big hump in her back.

Glad to see that it was able to survive the harpooning (don’t think I spelled that right), were you on a lake where native americans are allowed to spear??? Was on Bone Lake in Amery for the opener and had a lengthy conversation with one of the locals that live on the lake and said that the Native Americans had speared over 200 muskies this winter and was perfectly legal!!!

No it was a MN lake. Totally illegal. A few poachers give the rest a bad name. I was talking to a good friend that’s a harpooner today about it; and it makes him as mad as anyone.
