Yeah, I made it there and I would have to say I’ve had my first bad experience with Thorne Bros. I was going to be out of town over the weekend so my lady called up there to see if there would be a deal on the Tranx and the guy on the phone said 10% off all reels. She asked if that included the Tranx and she was told yes. She told me about it a couple hours later so I called up and was told the same thing and that they were almost out of them. So we jumped in the car and rushed up there. Turns out they were selling the Tranx for $470 and not $450. I told them we were told on the phone $450. I got a ‘We have been selling them at all the shows for $470. Sorry’. And then he walked away. Thanks. Apparently I am supposed to follow them so closely that I should have known I was given bad information by their employee.

I ended up getting the reel because I was already there and it was $10 cheaper then another place I was going to get it, but if I would have known they weren’t truly giving you 10% I would have just ordered it from the other place instead of the hassle to drive all the way up there. Oh well, I guess you can’t have perfect service all the time, but it was enough that I will be using MTO a lot more this year.

Sorry to hear this happened to you B Curtis. I have had a similar experience 1 time there but with my loud voice and huge biceps i was able to negotiate just kidding…

If you really want to get to the bottom of it next time ask for the owner. He is very nice and will compensate for his employees mistakes MOST of the time. At least in my 1 experience….

Im sure you will forget the $10 anyway when you hook up with the first 50″ my friend good fishing to you and stay safe on the water

I had a similar experience with bad info over the phone involving a rod warranty. The owner was the one that helped me when I walked in the door, after I told him “I was told I could exchange them over the phone so I drove 45 minutes to get here” he took care of everything no problem.

Well that sucks that you didn’t get the full discount, but look at it this way, atleast you got more than I did. I bough 2 of these reel at full price, and didn’t even get a discount.

    All I got was a shimano t-shirt
