Net suggestion

My parents live on a lake in Wisconsin that has a good Muskie population. We typically fish walleye and crappie on the lake but a few years ago we bought my dad a muskie rod. We are hesitant to use it because we do not have a suitable net. We fish from a pontoon so cradles would not be ideal, The last thing I want to do is catch a fish and not have a safe and responsible way to land and release the fish. We have looked at some nets and they can get pricey. I know you typically get what u pay for. What does everyone use for nets or can you give me some options for around $100.00 versus $180-200.

    Thanks in advance

Frabil has some bigger power catch nets in the 100-120 range but the mesh is on the lighter side and kind of tough on fish.

Frabil big game nets have the heavier bag and in the 150 range

The BIG KAHUNA if a great net with a heavier bag and is good on fish but in the 200 range.

Beckman has there FINSAVER bags and think there big model is the 150-160 range.

Personally I would not skimp on a net. whats a little more when you are already spending 100-120…

some of these now have an option of an extended handle so may be a good idea for a pontoon.

Also get a knipex cutter its a must and good needle nose.

Agreed completely on not skimping when it comes to these fish especially. I’m no Muskie guy, and you definitely need a hoop size to support the fish you’re catching, but look towards the Frabill Conservation Series nets for their knotless-design. For anyone who’s put net-marks on a heavy fish, knowing full-well the potential infection implications after release, these are great piece of mind.
