I’m the best man in my brother-in-law’s wedding and as such, I have the duty of planning the bachelor party. His only request is that we get to fish muskies for the weekend.

Does anyone know of a resort in the Bemidji area on a muskie lake? We’d be looking for a cabin that will accomodate 6-8 guys, be under $800 for the weekend, have boat rental available, and be near a golf course? (The golf course is because there are a few guys who, for reasons beyond my comprehension, don’t fish.)

If not, what are some of the muskie lakes in the Bemidji area where we can get some action? My BiL hasn’t caught one in 5 years and he really has the itch and both of my brothers are really wanting to catch their first muskies

Dreamers Resort on Big Lake is one of the Best Musky lakes in that area! It only about 2200 acres so your can get around pretty good with a smaller outboard or maybe your taking your own! also golf course just a few miles from there! Dreamers #866-223-7326 or 218-751-1020. very nice affordable resort! Check out there website Dreamersresort.com! You can send me a PM & i will help you with places to fish on the lake if your interested! good luck!!

Why Bemidji in particular? Cass or Leech are both great musky lakes and have lots of options. Cass in only 18-20 miles from Bemidji (I think).

I have a boat, but no one else does. We’d have to rent a boat since you can’t fit 8 guys hucking muskie lures in a 16′ boat. Bottom line is, I don’t trust unexperienced boatsmen on big water.

Also, we only have Saturday/Sunday morning to fish, so we want something on a bit of a smaller lake so we can have a better chance to cover the main spots.

I grew up on the shores of Plantan as it is known to the locals. The DNR stocked the ‘Ski’s when I was in middle school and there are a few in the 50 inch class taken there each year. Balsam Beach is centrally located on the lake and its only about 2500 acres so it’s easily managable in a small boat but has lots of good musky structure. Its less than 10 miles to town and the Blue Moon Saloon is located just a couple of miles from the primary public access on the south end of the lake if you need to wet your whistle (I’ve heard that happens during bachelor parties sometimes ). No input on the golf front.
