So, last summer while my wife and I were pitching jigs for shallow walleye she caught 3 pike in a row on the jig. Just had 8 lb mono tied right to the jig, fortunatly they were all mid 20’s fish and none of them bit off. Thinking about that the last few weeks and me thinking about adding using jigs to my springtime pike hunting arsenal on pool 7. My question is – what would be a better way to run jigs with a more ‘tooth’ friendly end to my line? Probably going to run suffix 832 line, but in my head putting a leader on like I do for the cranks I throw would seem to take away from a lot of the action of the jig and also create that much more ‘play’ for them to shake it off?? Being I am targeting pike, i don’t think the leader is going to be much of a ‘spooking’ hazard. Your guys thoughts?
