It’s already posted on my “I caught a pike on a jig pole” post but figured I’d share again 26 1/2″ 3lbs 4ozs.. on a crappy old spring bobber pole with cajun line-6lb test, with a blue colored “ant” and crappie minnow.. Was not expecting a northern on my jig pole..

29-1/2″ 7.2 lbs. Only pike I have taken so far – and it made one heck of a fish fry! Winter pike in this size range are my #1 favorite fish for the table.

Timmy, I’ve never speared so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Did you take that shot right behind the gills on purpose or was it luck? It seems like that would be a great place to get ’em as to not ruin a bunch of the meat. Just curious.

On purpose….and a little luck made it actually happen….lol.

Seriously – when they come in very slowly like that one did, I can usually hit them right on the bottun like that.

Caught this monster Saturday evening. Went 39″, and is the biggest, thickest pike I’ve ever personally seen. I sure wish I woulda had my scale with me. I saw a chart that said 39″ = 16.9 lbs, and I would believe this fish was very close to that, possibly a bit heavier. Hit a Bomber Square A.

    Nice Gator

A 40″ pike usually runs 20lbs give or take, so I’d say you’re probabally closer 18lbs

Cool, thanks for that info. I feel pretty comfy saying it’s gotta be close to 17. Think I’m going to make me a backpack to walk around fishing with. It’ll definitely include a scale and tape!

If you are fishing Pool 8, you got to be liking the low water conditions and post spawn pike bite right now
