What a pig! I give props for releasing a fish like that. If I got a state record fish in my hands pretty sure its coming home with me.

    JK, nice fish, I wouldn’t know regardless…

Not sure if that looks like the St. Louis river in the background of that pic, but none the less, that thing is an absolute tank!!

It’s to bad the MNDNR is shutdown (except enforcement). Record would not have counted regardless. Congrats to the angler and the release.

thats unreal. Was the fish just a complete overeater or did it have a “condition”. Either way… awesome TIGER

RangerSki, why do you say it would not count because of state shutdown, there is not a time limit to get a fish certified. A fish must be weighed on a certified scale,[like at a meat market if it that big] witnessed, and then taken to a fisheries office to have the species verified and get the offical form to register it.

This is especially true for muskies but other species as well, but with conservation practices of many dedicated anglers, lots of people (including myself) would not kill a fish on the chance it is a state record. Is that a requirement? If so, maybe its time for change on that rule. Obvious hurdles exist with getting a certified weight but I’m sure the MN govt could quickly and skillfully negotiate that obstacle
