well we went on a musky trip to the big V and boy it didn’t dissapoint. only netted 1 musky on the trip but i made it count with my new best musky ever. 49.25″ coming off of a deep cabbage edge in about 8ft. of water. fish ate a small bucktail in the figure 8 and hold on for a ride!!! haha my fishing partners stayed in the tent sleeping that morning so i was solo when i got her…thanks to the guys in the pontoon 4 taking some pics.
now for the report….we fished the first 4 days picking up about 2-5 pike per day and a few smb here and there. never really got on a good pattern but we did manage a few follows in those 4 days on rubber casting deep weed edges…the last day we were there was blue bird sky and calm so didn’t figure it to be a good fishing day….boy was i wrong! 13 follows later and 2 others with hooks in them and this 49.25″ girl. this was some of the better fishing i have ever seen, these fish were in the same spots we had fished the previous 4 days just seemed they turned on with the stabilizing water temp. most fish were in deep weed edges about 8ft. coming in on small bucktails. my secret lure got my fish and produced about 7 follows that day!! only 1 fish came off of a rock/weed spot all others came off of cabbage on the windy side of points or windy bays…we also found multiple fish stacked up on spots so if there is 1…there will be many! haha
good luck fishing any1 and every1 and remember to practice good CPR!
ps. if your up on vermilion look out for a 19ft. crestliner w/ merc on the back and a custom blue crestliner wrap/paintjob with checker flags…..they are alcohaulics and almost killed us on july 3. they roam from dago bay to the narrows as we saw them a couple times. they were all drinking beer including the driver and missed hitting us by 1ft. spraying us with waves. saw them out driving and drinking beer the next day also…only saw the water cops 1 time on the other side of the lake and we reported them but i don’t think anything happened of it. oh well i found out where that mother’s cabin is…
