I have a 7 ft M/H one piece rod. I broke about a foot off of it. What will the adverse effects be if i just put on a new tip?

i did something like this about a month ago….it just isn’t as sensitive u can’t feel the baits action or if it fouls up as well but still works. got my first fish of the year on a broken rod just make sure to put a good tip on and make sure the spacing between the end guide and tip are consistant with the other guides spacing.

When I break a rod it gives me a excuse to go buy a new rod

You broke a foot off of a 7′ rod? That’s really going to stiffen it up!

I’d tend to think you’ll end up with a short rod that you don’t like, buy a new one. imho

I have a couple 8 foot Tooth Tamer rods that work well for me..fwiw

It would still work as a trolling rod or fishing with sucker minnows. Not so much for casting anymore.

Depending on the brand, you might be able to get it replaced under the warranty for a discounted price.

There is a heck of a deal on a slightly used St. Croix in the classifieds

    Quote:

    1) Avid 6’6″ MHF Musky rod (looks like new) the cork handle is not even dirty…$90 (great for jerks, twitch baits, gliders etc…)

I’ll even drop the price to $75 for ya…

i myself like short rods for certain baits but not every1 does what i do… i like a short stiff rod for jerk baits like hellhounds, phantoms, suicks, reefhogs, docs, jackpots. all of these baits i like to jerk the rod straight down towards tha water. the shorter rod makes it so u don’t slap the water with this angle…

for almost any other application 8-9foot rods is a must! and a lot less strain on your back..
