got out fishing last night with jason. the water was high and dirty with the recent rain and there was plenty of scum on the water…kinda lost a bit of confidence. only for a bit that is. jason got this little 36″ guy on a believer. guess he liked the rattle in the dirty water! i had a blow up on a suzy sucker shortly after on the same spot but no finish there. bummed out the weather didn’t cooperate with my days off but i guess we still made the best of it. will be in the metro or mille lacs next week. if any1 has a mille lacs muskie report i’d appreciate some info…

also wanna give a big shout out to knipex hook cutters! first hooks cut with my set and boy they cut like butter!!! was worried for a second as this fish really chewed this bait up…but no worries with knipex. go get a pair if u don’t have some or need new cutters!

Nice work! I got on the board for 2011 last night also, and used the hook cutters to ensure a good release…Good bolt/hook cutters are a must!

Bend the barbs down and you won’t need the cutters…

Maybe, but since I started doing that about 25 years ago I have lost maybe two to that, one when the net guy missed and she rolled over the net and spit the lure out, another time way back when she did a tail wagger and I let the line get loose.

Every musky I’ve seen swim away bloody (that I could ask them) has been with barbed hooks, I don’t think you can believe in C&R and use them on big northerns or musky’s. imho

All about personal choice I know, but mine is to do whatever I can to keep them alive.

I’ve seen people cut the barbs and leave them in, this was on TV with supposedly pro’s doing it….not very professional imho
