wondering if any1 is running a okuma baitcast setup for musky fishing?? in particular the okuma cortez 10cs hi-speed reel. if so do they make a lefty model? i have a call into okuma but sounds like i’m not getting a call back. wondering also if this name brand baitcast lasts very long… thanks for any help guys!
Older Garcia 6500C’s and Shimano Cardiff’s and Calcutta’s are what I use, been pretty happy with them, no Okuma’s though..sorry

got the message allen. got rained and stormed off the lake last night and thought it was going to continue 2day but wish i woulda stuck around for another day. decided to just head home to rochester. maybe next week!
about the reels…i need a hi speed lefty reel but don’t have 300 bones to spend so that is why i’m asking. shimano don’t make any and abu is PURE JUNK! would never even consider another 1 with their customer service they gave me last time telling me they would replace it under warranty and then i sent it in and they sent me a bill for a new 1. BS!
I would do a search for the AVET line of reels, they are a saltwater reel, very similar to trinidads that can be had in left handed models. Very solid, dependable reels.

AVET JX 6.0 MC not real cheap but still not to spendy. just under 300
it’s a crying shame they can’t just make every model reel in right/left both or at least popular models….i bet i’m twice as strong as u rightys with all my harder crankin!! haha
allen- i have 2 cardiffs and they are great reels for the money, lasted me 2 years but doesn’t BURN bucktails like i want to.
may have to look at the avet series reels but still a lot of money. wish they made a lefty saltist!
I have one of the Avets. Takes a little getting used to but the thing is absolutely bulletproof. HAve had to do zero maintenance on the thing as there’s barely any parts in the reel to wear out.
