BIG LAKEWOOD ISSUES

i bought a lakewood box a month ago from reeds online. after buying it i found out that the boxes reacted to some bulldog baits from a chemical plastic reaction. this is only posted on lakewood’s site and not on reeds site. i called lakewood and the man told me that there were only 2 cases where this had happened and it sounds like they havn’t really researched into it much. he told me maybe i should try lining my slots with cardboard but i didn’t wanna do that so i put my other non bulldog baits along with 2 old beat up bulldog bait 2 see what the outcome was and it wasn’t good! the 2 older bulldogs were melting pretty bad at the tails and on the belly but the thing that made me mad is that all my other rubber non bulldogs were sticking also! i speciffically asked the guy from lakewood if it was just bulldogs or all plastics and he told me just certain generation bulldogs. here is the list of effected plastics…
3 tubby tubes-stuck to the side pretty good
    2suzy sucker
    2 medussa-melted on the belly a little
2 mega D-tails stuck to the bottom
2 dunwright-fins stuck to the body
3 bulldogs-worst wear of all, tails and belly melted bad
1 flying witch-only plastic not effected

the worst part is i called today and was told every1 who knows about the boxes are busy until monday! opener is saturday and now i have about 15 big baits with no box… i’m interested on what they are going to tell me on monday but all i can say is i’m gunna demand pretty good service to take away from my fishing!

i guess i’m just lucky none of the baits are junked completely and i caught it in time…if i woulda waited another week or 2 i’m sure they woulda been goners by my standerds. sorry about the rant guys just thought i would let ppl know 2 look into these boxes b4 u buy them!

I have 3 Lakewoods and have or have had rubber in all of them and never had an issue yet. 1 Monster is nothing but mag dawgs and Medusas the other Magnums half full of Mag Dawgs, Super D’s, Guide Dogs and Curlie Sues.

this is a lakewood extreme box for big baits. it’s the new spacers inside the box are made of new plastic and stronger than the old ones but not as effective in my opinion…

1 of mines an older one the other 2 were new last spring but all have the cardboard inserts or wathever it is. Next box will be a smoke Justencase.

I got across the street to the Musky Shop to see what I could find out… Here’s my take on the situation… All of the boxes that they have that have the new plastic hangars have a 1/2 page notice in the box warning the buyer that this plastic could interfere with the integrity of the plastic lures you hang on them and that if you are concerned you should try hanging them over night to see what effect might occur. It also goes onto say that if in fact there is an issue that the openings can be lined with cardboard and that should alleviate the issue. So if you had no warning in the box when you received it, I am not sure what to tell you…

I guess in the long run the most disappointing thing in this whole mess so far is that it is taking over a week for someone who KNOWS something to get back to you!!! That is unacceptable!!!
