ARDENT Reel has a UTUBE video with instructions for reel cleaning.

type “shimano reel maintenance” into youtube. There is a shimano tech giving extensive multiple video instructions. It may be available on shimano.com, but im not sure. He starts off with a citica and then moves onto a saltwater reel.
Its a pretty awesome resource for a guy who had no clue before watching it.

tried it on one of my calcuttas once, lets say i ended up with a repair bill instead of clean and lube one…

just tried to clean my curado…it’s gunna come with a bill haha. i’m taking it to john’s tackle tomorrow and he’s gunna show me how to do it myself. i have 2 of the same reel and he’s gunna break it down to me and then i can learn hands on. it’s more difficult than it looks and i wouldn’t recomend it to most ppl

Did you watch the shimano maintenance video on youtube? I would think the curado is very similar, as the citica in the video is basically the same just with less bearings I believe. I applied what I learned from that video to cleaning up an old shimano cruxis that i had and it went pretty well.
I even took it a step further and removed the line guide worm gear(man was the little sheath that covers that dirty on the inside).
I think the key is to lay everything down in the exact order that you took it apart, so you know what order to put it back together. And make sure you put the washers and stuff in facing the way they came out. I put a washer on upside down that goes on the main gear and has a drag disc inside and when I put it back together it would barely even turn the spool with the drag cranked all the way. Just have to pay attention to the little details.

I have my reels down fairly well, usually only have a part or two extra when done..:)

I find if I lay a sheet of construction paper down on my table, then disassemble and lay out in order, that helps and also on stuff I’m not familiar with, I’ll take step by step pictures.

The U tube stuff looks like it’d help too.

went thru and sat back down…got them all cleaned up. put new line on and checked em out and they work good. just had to take a break when i got mad and it doesn’t help not to have any small tools.
