Eskimo stingray

Hey guys. I picked up an Eskimo stingray last year and had to put a new carb in it this year. Anyway it’s running great but the blades always get full of slush and freeze up and I have to remove the slush to drill thru the ice. I’ve never had an auger do this. Anyone had this issue or ideas of what could be causing it? Thanks

I had some slush buildup on mine but I just make sure they are clean coming out of the hole. Now I’m having g problems with the blades getting dull in clean ice

I’ve noticed that too. Put brand new blades on and they are chewed up as already.

Did it just stop cutting then? Mine still cuts. The blades just look terrible.

Mine cuts but you have to push before I just opened the throttle and let the auger do the work

have had an eskimo mako for 12 years. when there has been years with little or no snow it went through blades fast with the ice being rougher. in my opinion it was a trade off of the blades being at a aggressive angle and cutting very fast. regarding slush haven’t had an issue unless its sitting in slush after use and freezes. when its happened is the auger laying on the ice after your don’t drilling? having used strikemasters and eskimos I wouldn’t trade the eskimo for the price point.

I would be cutting holes and after a certain number of holes it would just get filled with slush/snow and cover the blades and stop cutting. I would have to clean all the slush out and start drilling again. Never had this issue with my jiffy.

I’ve noticed this too. It’s basically a habit of mine to make sure the blades are clean after I’m done popping holes. Also, the blade cover for Eskimos is absolutely awful if there is any buildup whatsoever. I gashed my hand two weeks ago putting it on.

I agree on the cover it’s terrible. And out of frustration a couple weeks ago I was cleaning the blades and cut my finger too. Not nearly as bad but it bled terribly on the ice.

I think it has to do with the design of the blades. To me there isn’t enough room for the slush and snow to pass freely thru the blades comparing it to other augers. When it’s clean it runs and cuts great but it can be a pain in the a$$

I had an Eskimo and I had some similar issues but it was never a huge deal. I upgraded to the strikemaster honda 35cc laser auger anger and it was the best thing I have ever done. Best ice auger by far I have ever used. It cuts faster than any other has auger on the market and it’s only 23 pounds. Not to mention no mixing gas and also a lot less fumes. Just my input. You get what you pay for with auger.
