Looks like they’re just keeping pace with every other manufacturer at this point. Doesn’t seem like there’s much room for innovation now days.

If anything, i’d like to see these shacks get lighter while maintaining the same warmth. Seems like these flips get heavier every year.

What really intrigues me is that this sled will fit under a tonnaue cover, and will fit inside a 5.5 ft box. Can’t get that from an otter or clam.
The push buttons to extend the poles looks like a nice added touch. I own an otter sled, but Eskimo I think has definitely stepped their game up in the last couple years.

The Eskape 2800 weighs in at 128 lb with out gear. It is a nice looking house but she is a pig.

My grizzly fits under my tonneau cover for the 5.5 box I’m not sure

Eskimo is the Innovator. first to make the wide bottom, first to make a full size door in a pop up. Don’t know diddly about sled models because I’m a hub guy. what else can you really do?
maybe a sunroof for nice days? going on year #8 with my fatfish and still going strong.

I’m looking at the Sierra Thermal. Has anyone been in one? I know they’re built relatively light…which is what I’m looking for.

No, I don’t want some heavy otter tank or large monster that’s immobile. I’m hesitant to even think of this at 80# given my current shack is around 50#. I fish early and late ice in relatively remote spots. I drag on foot for miles some days through backwaters of the river where no vehicle or wheeler could go. Often I fish alone, and this would still give me the versatility for someone else to join when not using the extra space for myself. My current 1 man just is slowly being beaten to nothing. The years of dragging it through woods, water, rip rap, gravel, mud, etc have its days numbered.

Granted I’ve already got 3 fish houses and nowhere near needing another. But apparently got the go ahead to buy another. woot

You can’t buy one unless the IDO crew uses them?

I think the Clam Nanook might fit your wishes @Jlaack. It was my first portable a while back and it slid into the back of my Civic 2 door with the seats folded down. Could even close the hatch. Should’ve seen people’s faces when I’d pull it out of that little car! jester

Evo line is pretty innovative. Lots of room, less weight. My evo1 sits in the back of my yukon in winter. Fairly light to get back there.

Couldn’t agree more. Not sure how the companies can do it and maintain quality/durability though.

how is the evo for mobility? Pretty easy setup, take down and move spots?

As far as I’m concerned yes, very easy. Pop top, pop front, stick pole in back done. If it’s a lil windy I have the cordless drill and throw in an anchor, all in all less than minute, or two with the anchors.

Roomy as hell one man, can squeeze couple small kids if needed. Don’t mind the crazy face, that’s just how we roll hah

Anyone have experience with the 2 man evo? Quite a bit heavier but more room.

My buddy has one and he likes it. I have not personally fished in his yet. My brother fished in it and he said it felt kinda goofy coming from a regular 2 man side by side shack but didn’t really have any major complaints

I’d bite on the spreader pole stow kit. Of course it’s simple to make something at home but if it’s in the $20 price point I’d just grab one; their fabricators do better work than I do in my garage )

I have one and I love it. It replaced a clam kenai, it’s pretty light, pulls great with hyrax, and I can Todd it in the truck by myself.

The negatives, you have to buy the Eskimo tow hitch if you want to pull it, and because the way the sled is designed, with all of the rounded spots, it is difficult to use other accessories that work with other houses.

I got mine at the ice show for 350 cash, thermal model and I love it.

I pull my Sierra fully loaded, not a bad pull.
I don’t put miles on but occasionally go out on early ice and walk a good distance with no issue. I added a nice length of rope that makes it pretty easy on ice….Deep snow is always an issue.

I cant agree more that Eskimo does some innovating. I just sold my FF 6120 for the new Outbreak 650XD! I can’t wait to get it out there and set up without having to fit through those little doors with gear. Loading and unloading the sled will be able to be done in the heat rather than breaking down the tent first so I can get stuff in and out. Clam had that garage hub with the big swinging door, but it doesn’t seem that it exists anymore. That wouldn’t have been bad to set up either.

Anybody seen or heard any pricing on the 2800? I am thinking about adding a big shack to the lineup. I have an otter hub, and have not been overly impressed with it. But going to buy a resort flip over or the 2800. Unless anyone has a used one they are wanting to sell and upgrade to a side door model. We dont run tip ups so it is rare I am leaving the shack with out moving anyways.

If your looking for like an otter look into the grizzly from Eskimo it’s almost identical to the otter. I have not been in the 2800 but I do own the grizzly and love it
