I bought this auger and noticed it doesn’t have a starter tip between the blades, is this normal, and if so how do they perform without one.
    Thanks

Assuming it’s the 6″ ?? They added a centering point to the 8″ after all the complaints year 1 but never added it to the 6″. The problem with the 8″ is if you went full speed right away on glare ice it would sometimes just walk across the top of the ice instead of digging into the ice. I don’t think it was an issue with the 6″ as they never added the centering point. You could see it wander if the blades start to really ice up and you’re on glare ice but I bet you’ll be fine.

Performance will be great.Just start slow until bit starts to cut/bite and you will be fine. It is a really smooth cutting bit. They don’t catch at bottom of hole like some other bits can do.

It is the 8″ model but got it on sale so it maybe an older version. Thanks for the advise on taking it slow to get started.

Then consider yourself warned. Personally I have no issue with no centering point and think it’s fine without it. BUT apparently enough people complained that they added the point to the 8″ after year 1.

A short Email or Call to Eskimo might get you a new model replacement. Just saying…..
