Has anyone fished out of these? They are a combination flip-over / hub style house and I am fascinated by them.

I have no idea if they are easy or hard to setup, my initial reaction was that I would get to set up a flip over AND a hub house, which sounds terrible, but I really have no idea.

There is definitely more room over the holes, but is that a solution without a problem for most people?

They’re nice but if you want one I’d wait until next year when they work the kinks out of it. They have some problems but I’m assuming it’ll all be fixed by next year’s models come out. There isn’t a whole lot of room in front of you when you sit down in the chair

I dont get what market they are going for with the crossovers. It would seem you either need space for more than 2 or need to carry it in a non-pickup vehicle in which case you use a HUB. Or you can carry a flipover and like the self containment and mobility of it and get that. What is the extra space for in the crossover? I have never been in one and don’t know, just a question and pardon my ignorance. I initially thought that’s cool, but after a while thought why deal with it?

I did a YouTube video awhile back when I first got it…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lec_hy4g1I

It literally takes about 15-20 seconds to unfold and setup…minus the time to stake it down of course. If your torn between a flip over because of the tub/sled functionality and the room a hub style shelter offers this is a good option to check out.

They had them on display at the Fleet Farm in Hudson. I like the idea of having a shack the size of a single flip over but more fishable space. The one they had setup at Fleet it seemed like the front hub (directly in front of the seat, was to close to the seat. It seemed like the holes would be too close to your feet.

I’ve fished in one and they are pretty nice but certainly have pros and cons. You do get more space for extra holes than a flip overs. We easily fished 4 holes. They set up pretty easy and I wouldn’t say there is much difference from a flip over. Wind can be a bit of an issue, the tent wants to lean or slide a bit in relation to the tub. On windy days you’ll have to use ice stakes. I felt the seat were fairly close together even when spread as wide as possible. As stated above, there isn’t much room for hauling gear in the tub when folded down. If you’re fishing out of a Ranger or ATV to haul extra gear it’s a nice match.

How is the roof hub in the wind? I was looking at the crossover hard, but the ones I saw on display seemed really loose in that small roof hub to the point it would drop down on your head in any real wind gusts. I can’t imagine repeated use is going to make them tighter.

Did the ones you looked at have the 2 vertical “spreader poles” installed in the front upper and lower corners…if you don’t put those in it gets pretty sloppy/flappy….peep my video I linked above, during the walk around you’ll notice that one side seems to look “saggy” that’s because I didn’t have the pole installed on that side. FYI.

I got a Clam six pack and its awesome. Takes about 5 mins to set up with the drill bit ice anchors and we have a ton of room. Just sit on lawn chairs and be comfortable. I had my doubts before I got it but its proven to be a great way to ice fish. In the wind you have to get that first ice anchor in and then pop it up. Learned that the hard way.

Good video. The one at Fleet Farm likely didn’t, but the one at the St Paul Ice Show did. Talked to the Eskimo Rep there who answered it had been tested in then wind, but he didn’t come across very confident at all on the subject.

If you ever get a chance to film it in a 15-20 mph breeze, love to see it in action.
