Noticed a small amount of oil under my au get the other day. Didn’t think much of it, thought that maybe I had set it down on the wrong end and oil got into the spark plug. Well here I am 4 hours north and no working auger. I believe the gasket went out (new 4 weeks ago). The shafts is completely locked up , but the engine runs.

Not a happy fishermen right now. cry

The engine runs but it won’t Rev up I’m guessing since the bit won’t turn?

Hope you brought a hand auger like me.. people think I’m stupid but you can’t always rely on the machine. Plus i usually test my equipment before heading out. It doesn’t always guarantee but at least it gives you some hope. .

It runs, revs, but the bit won’t engage.

It sounds like something went in the gearbox. Could be a key. I’ve never seen oil in an auger gearbox tho they’re usually grease. The oil came from the engine, probly tipped to the wrong side.

Sounds like a gear box issue. HC40 is a propane auger so the oil is probably from it laying wrong. Check the oil level to be safe.

Eskimo customer service was great. They are sending me out a brand new unit.

Glad to hear, it is great when a company stands behind it’s product. The best design, built by the best workforce will occasionally produce a lemon, it’s reality, but how a company rights that speaks volumes.

After the support I received with Eskimo, I will not hesitate to buy other products from them.

Fingers crossed that it was just a fluke that my unit died. I was super happy with the HC40 before it went out.
