Looking for help on a HC 40 auger I have replaced the carb the hose and regulator also the ignition. The trouble I’m having is it starts idles fine but bogs when you give it throttle
my old strikemaster would do the same thing if i didnt open the vent on the gas cap. it would idle but die when you gave it throttle because it would form a suction in the tank without the vent open
Even though it’s propane and there’s no cap to vent like on a gas auger this is still a sign of running too rich. There is no air/fuel adjustment either, just idle. So strictly as a diagnostic test, remove the air filter and see if the condition improves. This will force it to run leaner. If this is what happens then clean or replace the air filter.
I replaced the air filter when I replaced the carburetor I’m at a loss. I’m in Iowa and all the small engine guys around me look at you funny when you say ice auger and walk away when you say propane.
Bearcat’s right. He’s an actual professional. With everything you’ve replaced i’m out of ideas on the engine. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the clutch is wore out or broken. That would cause the engine to bog down too, but try to get in touch with Iowaboy first.
