I was there 2 years ago the 2nd week of oct and we were a little early the big fish had not moved in yet.But you still could catch all the 18″to 20″ fish that you wanted. We were using stinger spoons on jet divers.

The first week of october is usually excellent! I go that same week and then I head out again in mid november. There is plenty of big fish that time of year, I’ve caught plenty of fish O’s (28in & bigger) that very week. The walleyes are on there way back west from the Clevelend area and eastern basin. It is the begining of the migration and gets better and better as the fall progresses. During that time frame the fish are still a ways out in the lake off of Huron and vermillion. The best potential to locate your big fish is an area called the “sand bar”. It is a huge piece of structure off of Vermillion and it runs north & south. It has alot of points and humps on it as well. This area holds literly thousands of walleyes. Day in and day out they’ll move around the bar but are always in the general area. Find the shiners and shad and you will catch fish. Two patterns exsist, trolling spoons and dipsyes and pullin’ spinners and snap weights. Both are affective most of the time one will dominate. Check with the local bait shops and charters and you’ll get all the info ya need. Let me know if your gonna head out there and maybe we can work together.

    Thanks,
