I spend a little extra when it comes to batteries for the boat cause I dont wanna have my day ruined! I am a fan of Interstate, got 5-6 years out of my last ones. Probably go with Group 29.

There’s been a lot of talk about this lately. Look back at a few of those posts and you’ll see you can purchase batteries anywhere from 100 bucks each to dam near 400 buck each. It’ll come down to what you feel good with spending. I’ll shooting for middle of the road.

When I used to work at a shop we sold interstates and very rarely had any issues!

Interstate or Outerstate….you will NOT get a better battery than the Cabelas Group 31 AGM at 1500CCA. They cost about $225 each but if you buy at the sale time and use a coupon, generally that price can be cut by about $50 bucks. Awesome is hardly good enough word for these batteries.

Although the Cabelas should be fine they did not measure up to their claimed spec’s when tested by Mercury Marine.

I’ve got 2 Blue Top Optimas. Bought them in 2003 and still going.

I have an AGM battery for my starting battery, and no doubt it is a great battery, but at over $200 a piece and needing three for a 101, I really like my three interstate 29’s for $300 for all of them. Maybe if you fish in really strong current everyday where you have them go dead on you with non AGM’s, you could justify getting them.

Maybe they should make a bigger battery. Their biggest battery has a reserve capacity of 155 min.
