Terrova transducer

I have a Terrova with the universal transducer, I just upgraded my locators to the Lowrance HDS 7 and 5, when I took my boat out I don’t get a temperature reading anymore, I have tried both units plugged into the transducer so I don’t think it is a Lowrance issue. I do know it was working last fall on my LCX 27. Is there something I am missing or do I have a bad transducer in the Terrova?

Is replacing the Terrova transducer possible and is that something I can do myself?

    Thanks
    Geoff

I’m not a HDS pro, but could it be that temp isn’t set up to be shown on the screen?? I think on my old LCX’s, I could move different displays (voltage, temp, time, ect) around, and take them off. Hopefully this is the problem.

The temp overlay is up on the screen showing three dashes as if it is not getting a reading and when I hook the units up to the console they both show the temp. I know with the old LCX I just hooked it up and it showed the temp, it would be great if it was just a setting I need to change.

Shoot! I was hoping easy. Not sure then. Sounds like ‘ducer or in bow connection / wiring if it’s showing up on the console wiring / ducer. No experience with changing US ducer in a Minnkota. I’m sure someone around here has and will help. Good luck….

Yes by network and ether net cord, when I have them both on temp shows up on both, I assume temp is from back transducer. It is only when I am running the bow mount and trolling motor with everything else off that I don’t get temp. Thanks for help guys.

The MinnKota U2 ducer does not have a temp sensor.

99.9% sure mine does. You got me thinking, but I’m sure I’ve noticed different temp readings a couple feet down on my bow locator from the transom ducer.

The newer (2007+) US2s have temp. Direct from the Minn Kota site:

I have to think it is just a selection or setting you have to change but since my boat is still in winter mode I can’t go take a look. With just your bow unit turned on I am thinking that maybe your still reading off your back transducer and for some reason it will not pick up the temp. Is your back transducer plugged directly into your other unit? I would suspect so and maybe that is where the problem lies. I would look for a setting change that will allow you to pick your source ie … transducer. I have my HDS7 on a Genz blue box for the winter and will take a look later today but it seems that some options will not show up when not linked to my other units that are still in winter mode.

StinkyCat was correct, I don’t know which setting I need and I can deal with that at a later time. I disconnected the bow mount HDS 5 from the network and everything works fine (temp and depth), will use it like that until I figure it out. Thanks a lot!

Nice!! Sometimes all our gadgets are borderline too much. Fun when it’s working though. I should learn how to follow / read directions more. Glad you got it figured out.

Just in case someone else has the same problem I had to go under the network menu and select devices and under sonar select the proper unit. Like all new computer stuff the answer was easy after you figured it out. I am starting to think I am in over my head with all the different settings. Thanks again for helping me with the problem before I sent the trolling motor to minnkota only to find out it was in good working order.
