I’m looking to buy a new low profile baitcaster for $100 or less. I will be putting it on a 7ft MH rod, and will be using it for bucktails/spinners for northerns and bass. I currently have a shimano corvalus on it and it seems to big/clunky and I really dont care for it. Any help is appreciated

I know this might turn into a pissing match, but I like the Johnny Morris reels. Especially in that price range. I’ve got 3 and haven’t had any problems. Only thing is, you should have bought last friday cause they had em marked down to $80. The reels do only have a 14 lb. drag system. So depending on the size of northerns you plan on catching, you might look for something else. But they haven’t let me down yet.

I would look at the older style Pflueger Trions if you can find them. Awesome reel for the price!

For Bass & Musky I use an Abu Garcia BCX round reels 5600-6600. They are like the old 5500, but better.
The 5600 holds 200 yds of 12# mono. Great drag, easy maintenance and price is under $75.
The low profiles are light and sleek, but I feel the rounds have a bit more cranking power.

Stick to the cane pole Starkie.

The Quantum Accurist runs about $99 and has proven itself well in my boat over the last 2 years.
