I am thinking of getting a rod for vertical jigging for walleye in 10 – 50 feet of water with 1/8 to 1/2 oz jigs. What differences are there among the Walleye Series WJR752~GLX, SJR722 GLX,& SJR721 GLX???
    Thanks.

    stiffness of the rods
I would suggest the 722 for the weights you are talking about using.

I agree with rodman on the SJR722…but if you are going up to that ($350) price point I would also check out the new St.Croix Legend Extreme LEX63MXF for vertical jigging. Both great rods!

fireline or mono? if fireline drop down to the 721 GLX (I LOVE mine) mono the 722 GLX. I haven’t used the 752 so cannot comment.

How much of a difference is there between the 721 and 722? Are the numbers different model years? Weights? Action? The Loomis brochures dont do a very good job descrbing the differences. Thanks

72 refers to length in inches
The 1 behind the length refers to the power. 2 is next up in power like for example 1 is ultralight then 2 is light. The number in the power varies from each series.

    GLoomis SJR Specs

Check out the link – again depending on your line I think the differnce is significant.

I came accross a G LOOMIS IMX 6’0″ Mag Lite Extra Fast Tip. Can anyone tell me what kind of rod this is? Will it be a good walleye jigging rod, or will it be to mushy on hook sets? Thanks

haven’t used it but know looking at the specs its for very light jigs. That is the action I use in my 7’6″ rigging rod though (HSR9000) and its great for that application.
