Ok so there’s all kinds of brands out there and the sort. Wanting to put a SS prop on my 150 EFI Mercury. This motor isn’t used for trolling just getting from point A to point B. I’ve looked onto some on-line sites but it just makes me scratch my head any help here would be great.
    Thanks

My choice would be a 19 inch Tempest Plus. It doesn’t get much better than that.

agreed i put the tempest on my optimax and max all the difference in the world. I looked at cheaper ss props but after talking to the guys at rapid sports you have to be careful because even if there ss they are not going to be as thick as the Tampest also its the prop designed for the Merc. I noticed a change the second i put it in gear amazing!

You might look at some other Merc props, like the Vengeance. If you’re lucky enough to have a shop let you test out props, as I have had in the past, that’s really the only way you’ll know what prop works best on your particular boat.

A lot of it depends on what kind of boat you have (weight, length, hull shape). Post what kind of boat you have and you’ll likely get better responses.

You can go out to the Mercury website and use their prop selector program. If you know your performance now, it can be real close. It hit my boat right on.
    Good luck.

That 150 will have a hard time turning a 19 pitch tempest. You can run the expensive 19 enteria. We had good luck with the Powertech OFS3 in either a 18 or 19 pitch.

what does an alumian boat push that much harder that you need to run a smaller prop,I turned almost 5800 rpm’s w a 23 tempest and my 01 motor is rated to not turn over 5600rpm’s Stan

All Walleye boats push harder, bass boats are designed to run on the rear pad built into the hull more boat out of the water = faster. Walleye boats are usually deep V more hull in the water to help cut rough water.

Before I would spend the kind of money Merc wants for there props try a Power Tech. I run a Power Tech on my 182TS for me it has to be on of the best three blade props for the money out there. Propman is great to deal with and prices are hard to beat.

Pretty sure your boat (The Alumacraft) is rated for 200hp. So you are 50hp underpowered. Not good on that hull. There is no one here or any dealer that can tell you what prop to run. You are going to need to try out several. Probably 5 or 6 before you find the right one.

Im guessing a 4 blade 17-19 pitch will be a good starting point and go from there. But bottom line, that motor will be a constant disappointment on that boat.

It’s running a 15″ with a 17 pitch right now. I got the boat used and not sure what came on it from the shop
