Well managed to get the boat home before the storm. According to the tech that worked on the motor if the timeing is off by as little as 1 degree it will throw everything off. Mine was out by 1.4 degrees. They also changed the prop to a 17 pich. I was getting about 28-29 mph with the 15 pich. So should gain maybe 3-4 mph. I guess he ran it around for a while and it doesn’t miss at all now.
Well just got the motor into Smittys for the break in tune-up after 16 hours of run time. The fuel consumption is WAY better and now that the computer knows that I am using sinthetic oil that should fall right in line. Motor shook a little after he lowered the rpms down about 200 (for trolling). But liking the motor more and more now that I am getting used to it.
bringing mine in this week for its check up. Iam very pleased with my 40 e-tec all i wanted and more. having a tack put in to fined the sweet spot for gas use.
Do you have a 15 prop on it? What kiind of speed are you getting and what kind of a boat do you have? Had them slow down the rpms 200. Now I can back troll at 1 MPH GPS. That should be slow enough.
