Ram Rod Holders

I’m using scotty rod holders and they work OK for me.
I have a ram trolling motor tie down and it seems like it would make a great rod holder when I’ve got my TM in use. Is anyone using their ram TM tie down set up for a rod holder and if so which ram rod holder are you using with the TM tie down? The one I looked at in Cabalas web site is $64.95 and I would have duplicate base and clamp that I don’t need. Figure I can use the base and clamp that came with the tie down and just need the rod holder itself. Any suggestions?

I use this set up. Just add the extra parts to the box on the shelf. I don’t believe you can purchase just the rod holder.

I don’t use ram mount rod holders the way you are saying but I have two ram mounts in the front with screwed in mounts and then I use 4 scotty mounts in the back. I like the way the rod holder it self designed compared to the scotty with ease of in and out of it, but I have found sometimes pulling boards in big waves the ram holders will pop up and twist. The scotty holders hold tight. I would think that if it is a ball mount ram mount that would twist too easy for trolling with a board anyway. Something to think about before you spend any extra money on it.

    Thanks Jon,
I saw the trolling motor bracket only sold seperatly after already purcasing the whole TM bracket (works great BTW) and found I needed the longer reach one after trying the short one.

Hey Mojo thanks for the planer board concerns-may be a problem plus I have hard time coughing up the coin for the expnesive one. I need to oil up the wallet and live a little more…

I didn’t do my research on this one guys sorry. The Ram web site offers the rod holder only, RAM 117 BU for 21.28 so I ordered it-have to pay $10 shipping but it will allow me to use the mount and not have another bracket to drill holes in my gunnel rail.
