I have been so busy I have hardly had time to post of late but I have been wanting to mention these rods all season and I’m finally getting around to it. Dean Marshall and a few other IDOers turned me on to these shorty rods for trolling lead and I’ve been running them all summer. They have worked fabulously for me this season. Nothing fancy, they just get the job done. Their compact size is really handy for keeping lines in order and for storage. They handle any fish without a problem. I had never been much of a lead core guy but after a season of really putting some of these deeper patterns to test I am sold. Thanks goes out to Dean Marshall, Mike Means, and Ben Garver for turning me on to these rods and to lead core fishing in general. Any of you wanting to try one out, check with Dean at Everts Resort.
And here’s a brief fishing report for those of you who fishing Lewis and Clark, Yankton. The walleye are getting fattened up for winter. Even though the water temp is around 52 degrees, trolling cranks is still an effective presentation. The walleye pictured below were caught on Friday, trolling cranks on lead core. Depths were 15 to 35 feet. We saw some fish taken by angler who were vertically jigging as well. It’s supposed to be another nice week here. Get out on the water and get you some!
