I pilot remote button broke

On Saturday night on Mille Lacs I had my remote right turn button break on my I pilot, so I had to run the kicker the rest of the night. I took it apart and was disappointed to see the cheesey design. Rather than the buttons directly contacting the board, there is a plastic grid all connected together that make contact with the board. I can see this as a weak link. I called Minn Kota this morning, and they said they would send the replacement plastic piece out to me. I asked if I could buy an extra just in case it breaks again, so that way I have a spare part on hand, and he said he would send me two for no charge. Customer service couldn’t be better, but I hope the replacement is a little heavier design. When I started to describe my problem, he stopped me and knew what it was right away, so I am thinking more than a few have had the same issue. Anyone else have this happen?

Same here………..first time I had it on the water.

They sent me a whole new remote and I had to return the
    defective one.

They are sending me just the part that broke. I hope they improved the design. I got one of the first to come out. I got it in March. Have you been using your replacement for quite a while now with no issues?

I received mine in April but didn’t try it out, other than
    spinning the prop, until opener.

    Zero issues with the replacement.

CS is top notch @ MinnKota!

The rubber on the left right buttons wore out on mine. I sent an email and heard nothing. Then called the 800 number and had it in the mail right away.

I’m on my 4th remote. I’ve had the rubber on the buttons wear out and I’ve also had the plastic under the buttons break too. I just noticed this weekend that the rubber is wore out again on my current remote and will need to be exchanged for a 5th remote. I’m sure glad they have good customer service with a quick turn around time.

I hope they have a new redesign soon.

Minnkota shipped my part overnight. I was a little surprized when fedex dropped it off today. Can’t get better customer service than that.
