Brian, you probably do not need a chip for your home waters. You mark the spots in your GPS or use the GPS in combination with a paper map. For fishing Winni, an electronic map would probably be nice to have. If you want to be able to pick out a piece of structure on the map, point the boat and go, these electronic maps are a good way to go. My thinking, specifically addressing YOUR situation, run the LMS 480M bare naked (poor choice of words considering…) for a while and see what you think. If the basemap seems sub par on Winni, dig into the ‘ol pocket book and get yourself a Navionics data card.

For guys who fish a few or more different lakes, for guys who are involved in tourneys, for guys who want to point the boat and go, or for guys who really like fishing toys, these Navionics maps are the cat’s meow.

I’m getting the #10 Hotmaps data card this year to use on Ottertail, Mille Lacs, Okoboji, and Spirit Lake. I want to be able to point the boat and go. I don’t want to spend fishing time trying to find the structure. I prefer to spend fishing time fishing!

    Thanks Wade…

You need a refresher in “Why nice guys fail in business and SOB’s succeed.”

Thanks again for saving me a buck.

    PS I was wearing paints….but I don’t think that’s going to make a differance on this site….

Hi Briank, I am not sure how accurate the chip is for Winnie, I fish Winnie a lot myself mostly spring and fall.
Navionics has a chip that has Winnie on it, I am going to see if I can find a place that will demo it before I need to buy it, the folks at LakeMaster suggested Reeds or Thorne Brothers as places that would most likely demo it for me while I am there so I can see what I am buying.
I am going to be on Winnie second weekend of season(5-19 thru 5-23)…if you are around up there that weekend we can swap notes.

I just want to welcome Jeff and thank him for a great product. Buckshot, I have the Mille lacs chip for my x-15 and will have the Garmin chip as soon as those 172C’s ship so you can take a look at mine before you buy. As others have said, they are worth every penny!!!!

Great questions all. Got a busy Monday at this end, but will try to reply to all as time provides!
