12v Power Drive to Terrova 24v

    ——————————————————————————–

I have a few electrical questions.
    Currently I run 2- 12 v batteries through a perko 1-2 all switch.
I have a 3 bank charger for the 2 batteries on the perko and my starting battery which makes 3.
I run my 12v electric and a power winch anchor off the 2 front batteries.
My questionis when I connect the 2 batteries , neg to pos can I run my 24 volt new terrova by attatching
the pos and neg to the 24 v connection and still run my anchor hooked for 12 volts.
And how about my 3 bank 12v on board charger. How will that work?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Yes.
I’ve done the same thing for many years with no problems.
Think about it. Everyone has multi bank 12 volt chargers for 24-36 volt systems. You can charge and draw 12v in parallel and still draw 24v in serial – without disconnecting anything. Just know that if you draw battery A down faster than battery B, your 24v sysyem will suffer quicker. Kinda like the lowest common denominator or the chain’s weakest link.

    Best of luck.

I know that is doesn’t sound right but it will work just like it should.

    You will be fine

Should work fine. Just hook each bank to a battery. The anchor won’t be run that much on the one battery from the 24V trolling system. Just take some care when connecting the 2 front batteries in a 24V configuration for the trolling motor.

    Couple things…
    1) Check your breaker (if you have one) and see if it is large enough for the 24V Terrova. I think it is recommended at 50 or 60Amps.
    2) Check the current battery cable size (gauge). Cross-check with the manual, you might need to run new cables (larger cables) for the new Terrova.
