Is this very similiar to Yamaha’s VTS. If so is there any one using it for trolling. What kind of min trolling speeds are you seeing for the motor you have?

I have an 06 lund fisherman rigged with a 150 optimax..use it quite a bit but you can still only drop to 550 rpms that with my boat is still 2.4-2.6 mph depending on the wind..They dont impess me a lot .Have some cool stuff. The safety on the whole opti and smart gauges annoy me.I think there is something like 3 different spots they check for temp.Right now I must have another sensor out.Its doing weird crap again.Third time since 06..

Mercury Troll Control will not drop the rpm under the current idle rpm, it will only give you incremental control of your rpm. So, if your current idle rpm in gear is 650, it won’t drop you down to 600.

Sorry, I have just received some new (to me) information that some Mercury motors can be set via Troll Control UNDER their in-gear idle rpm. Here’s a chart that explain which ones can be set lower, and what that minimum can be. This applies to both Big Tiller-equipped motors, or “remote” ones using the SmartCraft SC1000 tachometer.
