Reel Warranty Repair ?

I bought a revo s last july,25 and this spring noticed there seemed to be something wrong with it. It kind of makes a weird knocking feel when reeling a bait in. It is now July,20. Do you think if I send it out tomorrow it will still get repaired or replaced for free under warranty, even though they will probably receive it after july 25th? Abu has a one year return policy by the way.
According to the warranty papers you are supposed to send it directly to an authorized warranty center. Anybody ever done this, and what were the results? It looks like the closest locations to me would be Bob’s rod & reel in madison,wi, Outdoor world rod & reel repair in springfield,Mo, or Tackle Plus of Minnesota in Minneapolis,Mn.
    Any suggestions?

i sent my reel and receipt to iowa straight to pure fishing and they sent me a bill for a new reel. their customer service sucks and they are a bunch of liars considering i called on the phone and they said send the reel and the receipt. buy a shimano next time or daiwa at least shimano has taken care of me.

Call them first and let them know the issue and and ask for the closest warranty repair center to your location.

Really??? Here’s my shameless plug for Pure Fishing…

I just sent a fishing Rod into Shakespeare (yes I broke an Ugly Stik) for replacement with ZERO issues. I broke the rod in my truck door and I explained this when I sent it in, thinking I had nothing to loose… 6 business days later I’ve had a new rod sitting on the back step.

I have owned a ton of garcia reels and bought three revos this year. I love ’em. I did have one that died on me after some catfishing when I had to break the 80# tuf line on stump snags. Not so good for the anti-reverse mechanism. In any case, I sent it back to Garcia’s Spirit Lake service center on a Monday. I had a brand new reel on my doorstep on Friday. They even sent my line back on the old spool. All I did was enclose a note explaining the situation. I can’t say enough good things about Garcia.

Well I sent the reel to Tackle Plus of Minnesota, instead of the Pure Fishing in Iowa, so we will see what happens. I probably should of called them first, but maybe will tomorrow just to make sure. I really like the revo’s too, just bought an stx this year. Where do you guys get the money to buy three in one summer?! I guess if i end up having problems with the stx too, i’ll give Abu the boot. I’ll report back on my results, incase anyone is interested.

I sent in a Abu Garcia D5 reel to Pure Fishing because of a broken line level gear. It was made of plastic. I recieved a brand new reel a week later as a replacement.
This is a great company in my eyes. The reel was out of warranty.

Well tackle plus must not exist anymore or something, because my reel came back in the mail. So now I am going to have to try calling pure fishing and see if they will still repair it under warranty because tomorrow my one year warranty will be up and its too late to send it out today

In case anybody was actually following this post, I already received a new reel in the mail from pure fishing. Sent it on tuesday with a note saying what had happened and how the reel was out of warranty now. Already received what appears to be a brand new reel saturday. I’m really impressed with how quick that was, 4-5 days! Now if this one holds up a little longer without breaking ill definitely be happy. I guess they don’t mind sending you a new one since they are made super cheap in china anyway… Swedish engineered, but made in china

Thanks for the update. Pflueger is also under the Pure Fishing umbrella. A lot of products are made cheap now days. The reels made by the Pure Fishing companys are as good as any other in my experience.
