Prop/Performance Question

I have a 2009 Stratos 1760 DV with a Yamaha F115 4-stroke. With the current 17P prop and 2 people in the boat, we get about 5600 RPM and about 29 mph. Add a third person and RPMs drop to 4500 and we sometimes don’t get on plane. What is the best way to improve the performance – 15P prop, trim tabs, hydrofoil?

    Do you currently have a s/s prop? If not I would get one. Probably a 4 blade in a 17 pitch.Maybe 19.

Sounds like your boat is underpowered.

Something doesn’t sound right. The 115 is the max hp for that hull, here’s a Yamaha F115 test on the prior 375XF hull, which is listed as much heavier, and they’re getting 40mph out it, spinning an 18″ pitch SS prop. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/products/otb/bulletins/bulletin_4stroke_midthrustjetport_gyt3_str-375xf-f115txrd.pdf
I’d get that motor back to the dealer, and ask him to run a scan on it, just to make sure all is well.

Is there water in the hull? Is all the weight evenly distributed? My 4 stroke is sluggish out of the hole, so I went to a 16 pitch prop and a hydrofoil. This helped alot, but I also found that my aerator hose was leaking and my hull was filling up with water when I ran it for a full day.
Drain plug, bilge pump, then try again.

Yikes I don’t want to be harsh, but I think he’s right something doesnt sound right with you motor/setup especially that big of a drop with the third person.
