What is the best way to color crankbaits? My friend and I fished pool #5 for a week using #5, #7, #8, & #9 Shad color Shadraps. We never caught a fish on the #8’s. On the way home we visited the Winona Fleet Farm. My friend put all the Shadraps together and noticed the #8 did NOT have as much white on the sides as the other ones. My next trip I took nail polish and painted the sides of my #8 white. My new #8 was my best producer. I like the #8 because it cast easier and imitates the larger September Shad better. Any Ideas on ways to color these Cranks. I’m thinking of pinks and reds too.

I’ve been modifying or adding color to cranks for years. The quickest and cheapest is permanent magic markers. Look in the school supplies section of any store. They come in three packs. I carry six different colors, but primarily only use 2 of them, Red and Black.
Now if you want to spend a little money a air brush would do nice too.

Thanks Tim…Permanent Markers would be much easier than nail polish. My wife says they have many diferent colors at the Craft stores. I can also use them on spinnerbait skirts.

I’ve been adding red to the bottom of all my muskie lures.
    It has helped.
