Motor Problem

I have a 25HP Suzuki 4-stroke on my small boat. Motor is ’06…with all annual maintenance performed by dealer. The issue is that after its warm, the motor idles poorly and kills at closed throttle. When the motor is cold it idles perfectly and maintaines idle with the throttle closed. One other unusual symptom is that starting the engine warm often gives off a cloud of blue smoke (oil). Starting from a cold engine does not do this.

Recently had all three carbs cleaned and same problem persists.

    any help appreciated.

Sounds like fuel mixture is too rich on the low speed jet. When warm does it run above idle or fast well?

I would definately run a can of Sea Foam through it 1’st before I tried anythind else and see if there was any improvement and probably a new sparkplug.

Sea-foam can tried …. ran through one can already and plugs changed when the carbs were cleaned.

Mark, it does run well above idle all the way to WOT when warm. Just doesn’t run well at low idle or closed throttle when warm (runs well at idle when cold though). Any thoughts?

this may be way off but it sounds like the choke is staying on. Are they automatic or manual? Just a thought.

Being that should be a carbed motor I would look at idle adjustment and idle speed may need to be turned up a tad.

Edited to add has the carb`s been synchronized?
