We have an older Tracker ProV with a 40hp motor and no power lift. Needless to say, It sucks taking it in the backwaters up north.
I ran across the CMC trim at cabelas and BPS web page for around $600. But I’ve also seen other trim’s for $1500-2000.
Is the CMC going to be worth buying? Or will I be wasting my money?

I really cant justify spending more than that on this old of a boat.

I bought and installed this unit for a 25 hp yamaha, a heavy 4 stroke, worked just fine, only issue for me was the motor sits further back and the handle was sort of short, hard to reach from where I sat in my jon boat.

A word of caution-I had a smaller aluminum boat with a 50hp 4str. It came without t&t. I put on an aftermarket unit. I felt that because of the setback, performance was enhanced but about a 400 hrs later, the transom started to loosen up. Was it because of the extra leverage?? jerr

When I rebuilt my boat I bought one of these units for the 50hp that was hanging off the back. The one I purchased was the PT-130 – rated for up to 130hp. I think it works great. It does have some additional setback to get the prop in “cleaner” water. It seems a little louder than one that comes built-in but not bad.

I also purchased a throttle that had a built-in tilt/trim switch and wired it into the pt-130. This way the switch is right on the throttle when I am moving/coming out of the hole and I don’t have to take my hand off the throttle to trim. I mounted the switch that comes with the pt-130 in the splash well so I have easy access to the tilt from the back of the boat.

BEWARE, I put one on a 16′ Lund 40hp Evinrude tiller. I bumped a log and the engine kicked up as it should have. The problem was that with the backset the engine kicked up into the splash well and that is where it stayed. When it did that it got the kill switch wire and cut it. When that happens and the throttle is also stuck, you have a engine out of the water and running half throttle that won’t shut off. I had to disconnect the gas line pull the choke and let it run out of gas. Had I seen the cut wire I could have shut it down quicker. It took anothe boat and 4 guys to get it out of the splash well. Mine was a tiller, but I can see it happening to a remote as well. Had I been alone, I don’t think I could have gotten it out. CMC didn’t want to hear anything about it. Had they simply put a warning on the product it could have prevented. I’m still upset about it.
