Does the Merc. 150 EFI typically come equipped with a trim tab? I have not paid much attention until someone else pointed out to me, it looked like I was missing my trim tab.
There is a pre drilled place under the fin, but no trim tab in place. If I had one at one time it must have fallen off,
I do know at slow speds it is sometimes difficult to keep going in a straight lin especially when loading the boat back on the trailer. any suggestion or comments? thanks Dave

Yes, there should be a trim tab or zinc disk there. If you have hydrolic steering, all you need is the zinc tab. (No trim fin on it)

I don’t think you need one. I bought a 1999 175 EFI and noticed it didn’t have one. I started looking at other Mercs and they didn’t have them either. Not sure why, but I have been running that motor for almost 11 years (GPS’d 68.5 mph ) and never had a problem.

My Yamaha had one that fell off, I replaced it and it too fell off. Next one is going to have loctite put on it!

I actually think my boat steers better when backing-up without it. I’ve noticed little difference in going forward but left turns take a little bit more effort.

The zinc trim tab (or disk, depending on the motor) is there to also prevent corrosion/electrolysis from eating the aluminum parts of your motor. The motor makers wouldn’t install them if they weren’t needed – ask anyone who has had electolysis eat a hole in their aluminum boat.
