I ran my 04 E Tech 50hp today and noticed it wasn’t peeing out the back. It ran just fine and didn’t give me any warning signals. It did the check thing went I started severel times and nothing threw up any red flags. Just wondering what I should do ?
    Thanks

6 years old maybe time for a new water pump. It will not give you an alarm till it heats up and trips the over heat alarm. Also check that you did not suck up any weeds and cloged the pee hole.

The pee hole isn’t the main exhaust for the cooling water; it’s there to let you now the water pump is working OK. It’s also easy to suck up weeds or mud and clog it up. Try using a piece of weed whip line to “snake” it out.

agreed. That is good advice. I had weeds plug up and cause the same thing many times. I carry a piece of wire that is correctly sized specifically for that event.

yea, I’ve got a 2002 Mercury 115 4stroke, I just replaced the impeller last year, it looked as good as the one I put in. I’ve had weeds plug up that tell tale hole many a time….

On most OMC motors you should be able to unscrew the that ‘nut’ that holds the ‘pee hole’ in. Careful, this is usually a plastic nut, but un-do it and if you have the ‘muffs’ at home fire it up and let ‘er blow out the crap you may have sucked up. If that aint it > like it’s been said, you may need the new water pump impeller

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to everything and didn’t get anywhere…so I took it to the dealer. Well see what happens. Thanks

Just an update….I got back from the dealer, looks like I had a plugged hose. They said it looked like a cocoon or something in the hose. Said it looked like it came from outside and not a sucked up weed. The pump was working fine (only 133hrs) run time. I think next time I put my boat away for the winter I am going to put a piece of tape over the pee hole..
    Thanks for the suggestions,
