Why is it shaded darker for shallower water and lighter for deeper water? Shouldn’t it be the opposite? I do not like this at all!! Does this bother anybody else or is it just me? Or just my chip?

On the 2010 Humminbird Lakemaster chip,I think You can change what depth is shaded and also change how dark or light the overall shading is.

Assuming you’re running a Lowrance. If this isn’t the case, let me know.

This is what I see running a 2010 Version 6.0 chip in a 112c. Lighter in the shallow water. Darker deeper. I’m not sure if you have some settings in your GPS set wonky or if it is a chip issue but you shouldn’t be seeing darker shades shallow and lighter shades deeper.

There’s dozens of sample screen captures on the Lakemaster site at http://www.lakemap.com/digitalgps-lowranceminnesotaversion6.aspx If you’re seeing something different give Lakemaster a call. I’m sure they’ll be able to get you squared away.

After sleeping on it… just a shot in the dark here but is there any chance you’re running a navionics chip and not a Lakemaster product? If memory serves the Navionics chips show the shallows darker and the deeper water lighter.

Or… does your map look like this? This is a screen capture of a Lakemaster map where the shallows are darker than the deeper water which is shown in white (looks grey here – caused by a screen capture issue).

If this last example is the case then the fix is simple. You have “fill water with white” selected. All you need to do is turn it off and your map will display like my first example.

Click on Menu. Scroll down to “Map Data” and hit “enter.”

Highlight “Fill Water With White” and deselect it.

Let me know if this gets you a solution. If not I’ll keep digging.

    Call Lakemaster for sure…
I bought a 2010 WI chip from Gander on 5/5 and had issues right off the bat…..called LM right away..
Turns out I bought a 4.0 and the updated one was 4.1.

They updated it free and in 7 days…..

    All is good now
