Suffix line – Siege or Elite?

I have been using Suffix Elite (tangerine) on the river and really like it. I have also tried the yellow Cortland which seems to cast better but I think I still like the Suffix better.

My question is can anyone tell me the difference between the Siege and the Elite and if you prefer one over the other and why? I mostly use the #6 & #8.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Elite is similar to Trilene XL. Good for spinning reels
Seige is similar to Trilene XT. Good for casting reels.

I really like the Sufix stuff quite a bit. But I use mainly Elite. I believe you may be using the Siege, because I haven’t seen the Elite available in tangerine, only the Siege. The Siege is 15x more abrasion resistant than the Elite, and I don’t believe it casts as well either. But for jigging in rocks, I would go with the Siege.
I use Sufix Elite 6lb in hi viz green exclusively for crappies. I believe it casts like 4lb, has the strength of 8. If I tie into a walleye, sauger, LMB or smally, I have a huge amount of confidence that I’ll be able to get em in. In fact, I just reeled in a carp the other day that pinned my jig against the bottom; I’d say he was about 8 pounds, but I had no problem at all.
No, I’m not a staff for Sufix, but they should really get ahold of me.

I would agree with that assessment.

I’m a big fan of the Elite as well. That stuff is as tough as nails.

I agree with most of whats been posted…
I’ll add that I researched monos for fishing bass as I am doing a lot more Bass guiding lately in my home waters of the U.P. Tackle Tour is a good source for tests and evaluations… Sufix Elite

In looking over several areas it seems that the Elite is favored over the Siege because of overall castability similar to comparing Trilene XL and XT. To me, the abrasion coating makes Siege slightly siffer and with a little memory, especially in cold temperatures. They are both exceptionally strong.
I fished Sufix Elite exclusively for two years with great results and it is my preferred mono line today for my baitcasters.
I feel Cortland Endurance the best spinning line available today and it has been flawless so far…less stretch than even Elite.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the input.

You are correct, my mistake, the Suffix tangerine is the Siege that I have been using.

I like the durability and strength of the Siege that I have experienced so far but the casting (with spinning gear) has been less effective than with the Cortland.

I am not sure which Cortland I used, it was the hi-vis yellow that Dean spooled up for me in 6#. From your comments, it almost sounds like the Cortland I tried may be more similar to the Suffix Elite than the Siege. Would anyone else who has tried both agree with that statement?

I may stick with the Siege for jigging in the rocks but I will try a spool of the Elite for live bait rigging and dragging jigs.

    Thanks again,
    Dave

IMO, the elite is closer to the Cortland, but still stiffer. I would say the elite is right between the Seige and cortland. In this warm weater you will be fine, but the game changes when the cold weather hits.

Dean, thanks for the input. I also noticed the new hi-vis line you posted about the other day. I am again curious…

Which do you prefer in the cold?

I had you spool me up the Cortland in March and liked it ok but I have had more experience with the Siege. Now that I have had the opportunity to use both the Cortland and Siege in cold and warm temps, I still think I have better feel with the suffix. Of course it could be the rod I am using too.

I very much like the way the Cortland casts but I like the strength of the Suffix Siege (to me the Siege seems stronger). I have also only used them on spinning gear thus far.

    Thanks again,
    Dave
